Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 1, 2026
PrivatePDFConvert (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is built with privacy as a first principle. Our PDF conversions run entirely in your browser: the file you choose is read, transformed into a Word document, and offered back to you as a download without ever being transmitted to our servers. This Privacy Policy explains the very limited information we do collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. The conversion is local
When you upload a file to convert, that file does not leave your device. Conversion is performed by JavaScript that we serve as a static asset and that runs inside your browser. We do not see, receive, store, copy, or process the contents of your PDFs at any point.
2. Information we do collect
- Server log data generated automatically by our hosting provider when your browser requests the website (IP address, user agent, referring URL, time of request).
- Aggregate analytics — anonymous, aggregate page-view counts to understand which tools are used most. No personal identifiers.
- Information you voluntarily share — for example, if you email us, we receive whatever you choose to send.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies. Functional storage in your browser is used to remember UI preferences. Analytics cookies are used to count aggregate page views. Advertising cookies may be set by our advertising partners — see the next section. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time.
4. Third-party advertising and Google AdSense
We display advertisements served by Google AdSense and may use other third-party advertising networks. These vendors may use cookies — including Google’s DART cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices and networkadvertising.org/choices. Pro users do not see ads.
5. Affiliate links
Some links on this site lead to third-party software or services. If you click such a link and complete an action with the partner, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. These partnerships do not influence our editorial decisions or product recommendations.
6. Your privacy rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information, including under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Because we do not store the contents of your files, those requests will typically apply only to log data and any emails you have sent us.
California residents may opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising using the opt-out tools listed in section 4 or by emailing us.
7. Children’s privacy
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. Data retention & security
Server logs are retained for a limited period and then deleted or anonymized. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the limited data we hold, but no online service can guarantee perfect security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will reflect the most recent revision.
